Students were in for an aural treat last week as Lance Skelton (From www.pinkelephant.net.au, and a judge of last years Grad Show) give a presentation on RADIO Marketing and Advertising

Lance spoke candidly about his career starting out in radio and went through his process, concepting scripts and how to get the most reach through the ol’ wireless.

Plus, we also enjoyed a great virtual-talk by Luke Sullivan – Simply the best presentation about Advertising EVER. (Luke Sullivan speaks “simplicity” to the students at the Miami Ad school in Minneapolis, Minnesota.)

Andrew Stumpfel talks about public art, EPRA and being ‘the fool’

Andrew helped kick off an amazing final brief with my Complex Imagery advance diploma students, speaking passionately about his experiences, processes and constantly drawing back to this once in a lifetime public art project for the East Perth Redevelopment Authority in the Perth Arts precinct. Indeed an opportunity to design an artwork seen by thousands daily. Andrew embraced the brief, the philosophical framework and urged students to ‘play the fool’ and explore their ‘what if’ ideas.

Well, six weeks later and we have all eleven submission now in the hands of EPRA and the judges. Check back soon for an update on the outcome.

2010 Music/Business Students team with Advance Diploma Graphics students

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this year’s presentations to Leederville students. However, Steve our trusty Graphics Tech set up a video recorder at the rear of the theatrette, as students spilled the beans and documented a stunning array of work, capturing their initial sketches, concepts, amendments and showcasing their suite of collateral customised to each ‘music client’s needs.

The work this year speaks for itself and you’ll need to spend a bit of time to digest all of the follow. Some remarkable ideas and lasting relationships formed with this live student with student brief.

Car Wraps make a statement in South Africa

Shanghai Expo T-Shirts

Talented 2010 Advanced Diploma students have completed their amazing array of T-Shirt/Uniform solutions for young West Australian candidates to wear on their visit to the Shanghai World Expo later in June 2010.

Next week, we will shortlist these, along with Fashion students, to find the winner of the WA Shanghai World Expo T-shirt Design Competition 2010 – Hopefully from the options below.

The competition’s Awards Ceremony will be held at the Central Institute of Technology main Lecture Theatre, 25 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge. A prompt 11am start to hear judges feedback, presentation of achievement certificates to finalists and prize-winner and of course, press photographs for Central’s CHAT newsletter.
