Worldskills Abu Dhabi 2017: C-5

Competition Minus 5

Construction site, accreditation and desert experience

Team Australian Experts arrived two days ago for acclimatisation at Worldskills Abu Dhabi 2017.

Today, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre opened it’s doors to experts for accreditation packs, new expert training and a quick glimpse at the mayhem of partially started stall construction, stands and skill areas.

It is truly enormous. The level of equipment still to be un-wrapped, constructed, painted and prepared is clearly a logistical nightmare. But hundreds of workers are on site. Lunch catered for thousands. There is a growing confidence it will be ready in time.

With competition five days away, buses took experts 1.5 hours into the ‘empty quarter’ for a traditional desert safari, welcome reception & dinner at a Bedouin camp.

Photos illustrate the vast expanse, plus a few others from acclimatisation around Abu Dhabi — Where sand meets city.
